Jaime Munguia vs Takeshi Inoue in the works for January

WBO super welterweight champion Jaime Munguia is mere days away from announcing his next bout as he is just awaiting word from his promoter, Zanfer.

Munguia’s next bout will be against Japan’s Takeshi Inoue on January 26th in Texas or California and on an unconfirmed network. Inoue had been rumored to fight Julian Williams for the IBF super welterweight number one contender spot, but will forego that fight for the chance at world title shot against Munguia.

Munguia was one of the last fighters HBO truly seemed interested in promoting, and with the network out of the sport of boxing, it appears either ESPN or DAZN will land an action orientated Mexican fighter, that you’d think would be highly sought after.

His promoter Zanfer recently took his stablemate, Miguel Berchelt to ESPN+ for a fight against Mickey Roman, so one might think he could end up there, but a fight against Canelo Alvarez seems inevitable and highly profitable, so to not do business with DAZN seems unwise.

Munguia is going to defend his title against Japan’s Takeshi Inoue on January 26 in Texas or California, at yet to be announced venue.

The plan Munguia told ESPN Deportes is to stay incredibly active and fight four times next year.
