Dmitry Bivol beats Joe Smith Jr, undercard results

WBA light heavyweight world champion Dmitry Bivol made his fourth world title defense defeating former world champion Joe Smith Jr in a main event of card from the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York, broadcast on DAZN.

Bivol was dominant as ever with a slight blemish being getting caught with a right hand at the end of the third round that buzzed him. Bivol boxed well off his back foot, and was too fast and talented for Smith, who relies too much on power against a fighter of Bivol’s pedigree.

Bivol is looking for a big fight and open to fighting Canelo Alvarez at super middleweight.

He won this bout dominantly 119-109, 119-109 and 118-110.

WBO super lightweight world champion Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker made his first world title defense against Mikkel LesPierre. Hooker outclassed LesPierre who seemed to be a level below Hooker. The bout was nearly a shutout.

The scores were 119-108, 120-107 and 118-109.

Light heavyweight Callum Johnson got a third-round knockout over popular New York fighter, Seanie Monaghan. The time of the stoppage was 0:23 seconds.

Training partner, and heavyweight prospect, Sergey Kuzmin got a majority decision over Joey Dawejko in a ten-round undercard bout fight. The bout seems as though it was close, we didn’t have a ringside pundit at this event so have no deeper thoughts than that.

The scores were 95-95, 96-94 and 96-94.

Super welterweight Israil Madrimov, who is doing something only Vasyl Lomachenko and few others have done, got his second professional win in a scheduled ten-round bout, brutally stopping Frank Rojas.

Light heavyweight Junior Younan got a six-round decision over veteran Derrick Findley, Otha Jones III made his pro debut getting a close six-round decision over Giorgi Gelashvili and viral vlogging middleweight Nikita Ababiy picked up a first-round knockut over Cory Dulaney
