Bivol dominates Zurdo, enters fighter of the year category | Results from DAZN
Dmitry Bivol, now 21-0, 11 KOs, punched his ticket last night to the undisputed fighter of the year award. It would be very hard pressed to find another fighter that has had as much of a successful year as him. There was many questions following the Canelo fight this past May and he answered all of them, silencing his critics. He went against previously undefeated Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (44-1, 30 KOs) and dominated the entire fight. Bivol displayed a one of a kind level of dedication, sticking to his game plan even when there was moments when it seemed he could have tried to get his opponent out of there. Much like the Canelo fight, he knew what he needed to do to win and did not stray away from that the entire night. To his credit, Ramirez did not stop trying and found some success in last few rounds. Too little, too late. The final scores were 117-111, 117-111, 118-110 for Bivol. With the win he will surely be credited with the fighter of the year award from numerous outlets. He is pushing for unification showdown with Artur Beterbiev (18-0, 18 KOs), a match up that has boxing fans salivating at the thought of it.
On the undercard Chantelle Cameron (17-0, 8 KOs) remained unbeaten with a unanimous decision victory over wild swinging Jessica McCaskill (12-3, 5 KOs), becoming the undisputed IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC and WBO Super Lightweight champion. Scores were 96-94, 96-94, 97-93.
Shavkat Rakhimov (17-0-1, 14 KOs) scored a ninth round TKO over Zelfa Barrett (28-2, 16 KOs)
The other half of the Yafai brothers, Galal Yafai (3-0, 2 KOs) scored a split decision victory over Gohan Rodriguez (12-2-1, 1 KO) in a close fight.
John Lawrence Ordonio (8-4-1, 4 KOs) won a four round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Majid Al Naqbi (7-1, 4 KOs)
One half of the Yafai brothers, Khalid Yafai (27-1, 15 KOs), scored a ten round unanimous decision over Jerald Paclar (16-6-3, 9 KOs).
