The WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) will be defending his title next month against top ten heavyweight Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) on January 16th at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York. The news was released two days ago per press release though ITRBoxing.com waited on an official press conference announcement before releasing the news, which turned out for not as the story was getting old without being published.

Wilder will be fighting Szpilka in place of Alexander Povetkin, the WBC #1 contender, who got a cut in his last fight. This fight will serve as a stay busy fight against the highest level of opposition the Wilder camp could find.

Tickets for the event start at $25 dollars and will go on sale Monday, December 14th at www.ticketmaster.com or www.barclayscenter.com. The bout will air nationally on Showtime Championship Boxing.
