Results from Sacramento, Bourland, Ayala and McKernan win

In front of a well packed hall in the Doubletree Hotel in Sacramento, CA, Vallejo, CA’s own Ryan “The Rhino” Bourland (9-1 4KOs) earned his ninth win as he headlined his first card a mere hour away from his hometown. Bourland, who outboxed a rugged and game Billy Bailey (12-21 4KOs) in a six round main event. Bourland showed improvement in his boxing ability as he fought moving backwards for a good portion of the bout, something we hadn’t seen in fights prior. Bourland won a unanimous decision on all three judges score cards.

In the co-main event “Super” Mario Ayala (4-2-1 1KO) outgunned Modesto, CA’s Michael Gaxiola (4-7) in an entertaining bout in which both fighter stood in the middle of the ring and traded. In the end, the judges awarded the bout to Ayala, who now is undefeated in his return to the ring after taking two years off from the sport of boxing in 2013.

The opening bout to the professional bouts featured a fantastic heavyweight bout that saw Blake “The Beast” McKernan (1-0 1KO), a natural crusierweight move up in weight and exchange multiple knockdowns with Derrick Williams (0-5) of Turlock, CA. After a closely contested first round, McKernan was sent to the canvas only to knock down Williams towards the end of the second round. Both men would knock each other down again in the third before McKernan was able to nudge out the victory by stopping Williams.

Before the professional portion of the card took place, eight amateur bouts took place.
