Paulie Malignaggi Returns May 29th

Paulie Malignaggi has been out of action for 13 months and with a successful broadcasting career on Showtime/CBS, it appeared that he may never be seen in the ring again after the brutal loss to Shawn Porter. Well, that was wrong as Malignaggi will battle Boston native Danny O’Connor on May 29th on the undercard of Amir Khan vs. Chris Algieri in Brooklyn, NY , which will be televised on Spike TV.

O’Connor, like Malignaggi was seen as someone contemplating retirement as the boxer who used to be managed by a member of Dropkick Murphy’s, now is being managed by Haymon – though he has had no contact with him. O’Connor remarked in a wide spread press release that he likes Haymon’s intentions of putting the fighters first.

The match up will see a Italian vs. Irish as a potential selling point of the fight, but more so it will show two boxers with not that much power engaging in a chess match before a main event that could be described the same way.IMG_3802
