Tomoki Kameda Vacates WBO Title
WBO President Paco Valcárcel has announced that WBO bantamweight champion Tomoki Kameda has vacated the WBO title. The logic behind this is that WBO doesn’t regard any other titles as worthy hence if you fight for a unification bout the WBO will strip you. Kameda is scheduled to face WBA “regular” champion Jamie McDonnell in the co-main event of Premier Boxing Champions on CBS on May 9 at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. Kameda will now just be fighting for McDonnell’s WBA belt after the WBO refused to sanction the proposed unification bout.
