Bruno Escalante to face Gilberto Mendoza on August 1st

Junior bantamweight Bruno Escalante (13-1-1 6 KOs) will be returning to the ring after nearly a year and a half layoff on August 1st in Redwood City, CA at the Fox Theatre and now Escalante has an opponent. Gilberto Mendoza (5-4-1 1 KO) of Modesto, CA will welcome Escalante back to the ring as Mendoza is coming off a draw to Tony Valdez in May of this year. Mendoza also fought at 117 lbs., the highest of his career in his past fight meaning he is a large junior bantamweight.In April of 2014, Escalante broke his left hand in an IBA super flyweight title bout against Victor Ruiz at Cache Creek Casino and Resort in Brooks, CA.

 

The co-main event will feature junior lightweight Andy Vences of San Jose , CA (12-0 8KOs) with the undercard bouts featuring light heavyweight Ryan Bourland (7-0 3KOs) of Vallejo, CA in a six round bout, super flyweight Casey Morton (1-0-1) of San Francisco, CA, cruiserweight Fabian Melendez (1-0 1KO) who also trains at Undisputed Boxing Gym in San Carlos as Escalante and junior welterweight Moises Benitez (3-0 2KOs) of San Jose, CA.
