Mayweather-Berto undercard results
Gervonta Davis (12-0 11KOs) stopped Recky Dulay (8-2 5KOs) in the first round of their bout as he dropped him two times with Dulay quitting after being leveled by another thudding straight left hand. Ronald Gavril (14-1 10KOs) knocked out Scott Sigmon (26-7-1 14KOs) in the eighth round.
Super lightweight Ashley Theophane (39-6-1, 11 KOs) scored a competitive ten round unanimous decision over Steve Upsher Chambers (25-5-1, 6 KOs) last known for fighting Andre Berto in Berto’s comeback fight after losing to Jesus Soto Karass. The fight aw both Theophane and Chambers push the action, but the more seasoned Theophane seemed to know how to do enough to land critical points to edge rounds late. The judges saw bout 100-90, 98-92 and 97-93 all in favor of Theophane.
The opening bout from the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Atlanta’s Trakwon Pettis (1-0 1KOs) made his professional debut as he made short work of Davante Seay (0-2) in a scheduled four round super lightweight bout. Seay was down twice from a vicious body shots with the final knockdown forcing the referee to call a halt to the bout.
