Rodriguez, Williams Jr. win in two fight of the year contenders
In a night of fight of the year candidates, light heavyweight Edwin “La Bomba” Rodriguez (28-1, 19 KOs) scored a highlight reel third round KO over previously unbeaten Michael Seals (19-1, 14 KOs) on Friday night at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. Rodriguez dropped Seals in round one, then Seals dropped him twice in the same round in which Rodriguez appeared to be out on his feet before being saved by the bell. Rodriguez came back to knockdown Seals in round two and knocked him out in seconds into the third round.
Light heavyweight Thomas “Top Dog” Williams Jr. (19-1, 13 KOs) scored a spectacular second round TKO over Humberto Savigne (12-3, 9 KOs). Williams and Savigne both showed their lack of defense and ability to get hit as both fighters touched the canvas in round one. Williams caught Savigne again in round two and got the stoppage with his follow up barrage when Saviegne was unable to answer back to Williams’ flurry.
In the swing bout, middleweight Fernando Guerrero (27-3, 19 KOs) scored a seventh round KO over Daniel Souza Santos (14-8, 11 KOs).
