Jamal Herring dominates Luis Eduardo Flores in Fox Sports 1 Main Event
Premier Boxing Champions Toe to Toe Tuesdays main event tonight showcased the American debut of Luis Eduardo Flores against former U.S Olympian and fellow Marine Jamel Herring in a 10 round lightweight bout.
Both fighters started the fight off strong. Flores came in the first trying to land something big as Herring tried working the inside to land his punches. Herring had a big second round, landing a huge left hand on Flores that hurt him.
Flores was able to hold on and make it through the round to come out strong in the 3rd though his momentum was shortly stopped as Herring came firing back and took over the round.
In the 5th round, Flores and Herring tangled legs causing Flores to fall with the referee counting it as a knockdown. Herring’s confidence grew and only seconds later he landed a check right hook that caused Flores’ glove to touch the canvas.
Flores, who didn’t look hurt, made it out of the round and continued to look for a big shot like he’s been doing all night. Herring began a relentless attack on the body of Flores in the 7th. Beautifully landing his shots and slowly Flores down.
Herring’s combination punching proved to be the superior factor in the fight as Flores did nothing more than try and land one big punch to change the fight. It ultimately cost him the fight as Herring won a dominant unanimous decision on his television debut. The body attack and combination was too much for Flores to endure. The final scores read 99-89, 100-90 x2.
