Raynell Williams nearly stopped in win over Gabriel Tolmajyan

In another undercard bout tonight on Fox Sports 1, lightweights Gabriel Tolmajyan faced off against Raynell Williams in a battle of two south paws.

The fight proved to be exciting with both guys throwing leather in the beginning rounds. Tolmajyan kept a stiff jab to the body look to set up a left hand while Williams produced combinations both to the head and body that landed effectively on Tolmajyan.

Williams who was landing the better punches, was slowly doing away at the face of Tolmajyan. Williams beautifully picked his shots to the body and threw combinations that landed at will. Tolmajyan hung in there, landing effective punches himself especially his over hand left.

As the fight progressed, Tolmajyan seemed to be bothered by his own left hand and he continuously shook it awkwardly. Williams continued to display his excellent boxing by doubling up on hooks to the body and head.

He continued to throw his combinations but soon faced adversity as Tolmajyan caught Williams clean with a straight left hand in the final round and seemed to be on the verge of stopping him as Williams was badly hurt. Williams, who was not holding, managed to make it through the round as there was a minute left when he was hurt and made it out with a unanimous decision win. Judges had the fight scored 78-74, 79-73 x2.
