Broner stops Theophane, calls out Mayweather
Former junior lightweight WBA champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner (32-2, 24 KOs), who lost his belt on the scale yesterday stopped Ashley “The Treasure” Theophane (39-7-1, 11 KOs) in the ninth round on Friday night at the D.C. Armory in Washington, DC. Broner was dominant from the onset as he appeared to be the more skillful man as well as the bigger man as he beat down Theophane who was stopped standing up trying to get away from the much bigger Broner.
After the bout, Broner called Floyd Mayweather in a passionate speech that you can now question the validity of whether the fight is sincere or staged.
Lightweight Robert Easter Jr. (17-0, 14 KOs) put Algenis Mendez (23-4, 12 KOs) to sleep with a huge right hand at 2:43 of round five on Friday night at the D.C. Armory in Washington, DC. This was Easter Jr.’s first major step-up, but one wouldn’t be able to tell since he dominated Mendez. Mendez was last in action beating Miguel Vasquez.
Opening the television broadcast, lightweight Gervonta “The One” Davis (15-0, 14 KOs) scored an impressive sixth round TKO over Mexico’s Guillermo Avila (16-6, 13 KOs).
