Lomachenko makes Walters quit in HBO main event
WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (7-1, 4 KOs) scored an impressive TKO over previously unbeaten former world champion Nicholas “Axe Man” Walters (26-1-1, 21 KOs) on Saturday night at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. ITRBoxing.com may be in the minority here, but we felt that after four rounds the fight was even with Walters winning the first and fourth via good body work and Lomachenko outwork him in the other rounds.
The fight swung in the fifth when Lomachenko continued to pressure Walters, who by the sixth round appeared to mentally break as his right hand was non-existent. Walters refused to answer the bell in the seventh round forcing the referee to call a halt to the action.
