Ramirez, Madera big winners in Fresno, Ca
In front of nearly 14,000 (13,700 to be exact) Avenal, Ca’s Jose Ramirez (18-0 13KOs) picked up a sixth round TKO over Issouf Kinda (18-4 7KOs) at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Ca. Ramirez was dropped in the second round with a left hook that could of been a push that saw Ramirez touch the canvas, but was ruled a knockdown. Outside of the knockdown the fight was all Ramirez who dropped Kinda in the sixth round before ending the fight minutes later.
In a six-round regional super middleweight title fight Quilisto Madera (5-0, 2 KOs) outpointed Joe Louie Lopez (8-2, 5 KOs) over six to claim the GBO (Global Boxing Organization) belt. Madera dropped Lopez twice in the fight and controlled the majority of the fight. Lopez was also cut open from a head butt in the first round. The judges scored the bout 59-53 in favor of Madera.
The co-main event saw super welterweight Danny Valdivia (13-0, 9 KOs) of Tulare, Ca entertain the crowd with an eight round unanimous decision over Aaron Garcia (12-7-1, 10 KOs), Valdivia dropped Garcia in round two, but Garcia came back to floor Valdivia in round three. Valdivia knocked down Garcia again in the eighth round as both fighters landed and took a good amount of clean punches. The judges scored the bout 77-71, 77-71 and 78-70 for Valdivia.
Middleweight Esquiva Falcao (15-0, 10 KOs) decisioned a durable Gerardo Ibarra (14-4, 8 KOs) over eight rounds with the scores of 79-73, 79-73, 78-74.
In the rest of the action, lightweight Bryan Lua defeated Manuel Lopez for his pro debut, super lightweight Ashkat Ualikhanov picked up a second round TKO over Carlos Aguillera, super featherweight Isidro Ochoa won his professional debut over Oscar Mendoza and Fresno, Ca’s Saul Lomas won the GBO welterweight title over #1 contender Pablo Sanchez.
