Berchelt stops Vargas, Miura stops Roman
In a tough week for Golden Boy Promotions in which their ill-fated lawsuit against Al Haymon was dismissed, CEO Oscar De La Hoya was arrested for driving under the influence and now one of the five profitable fighters in Golden Boy Promotions roster lost as Francisco Vargas took a bad loss to the hands of Miguel Berchelt.
Super featherweight Miguel “El Alacran” Berchelt (31-1, 28 KOs) outclassed former WBC super featherweight champion Francisco “El Bandido” Vargas (23-1-2, 17 KOs) stopping him in the eleventh round TKO on Saturday night at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California as it appears that the wars Vargas had been through had take a toll on him.
The co-main event saw Takashi Miura, (31-3-2, 24 KOs) pick up a 12th round TKO over Miguel Roman, (56-12, 43 KOs) in a WBC eliminator to open the telecast.
