Keith Thurman edges Danny Garcia in welterweight unification fight

Welterweight Keith “One Time” Thurman (28-0 22KOs) pick up a split dice unified the WBA and WBC welterweight titles as he outpointed two weight world champion Danny “Swift” Garcia (33-1 19KOs) as the main event in front of the highest attending boxing event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, history.

Thurman started strong trying to hurt Garcia as he took the fight to Garcia in an action packed opening round. The fight began to cool a bit as Thurman became a boxer puncher outworking Garcia in nearly every round with Garcia countering with cleaner punches, but not hurting Thurman.

Garcia had success in the middle rounds winning two rounds back to back, but was unable to break the flow of the fight as it was simply Thurman’s night.

The judges saw the bout 116-112 Thurman, 115-113 Garcia and 115-113 Thurman
