Bam Wins Title At Flyweight, Wants Sunny Edwards

Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez is now a two-division world champion as he claimed the vacant WBO flyweight crown with a twelve-round unanimous decision over Cristian Gonzalez. The bout was competitive and Bam took a bit more damage than expected but came away with the end goal of being a world champion.

After the fight, Bam called out Sunny Edwards despite proclaiming that he had a broken jaw.

Marlon Tapales is the new WBA and IBF super bantamweight champion as he outworked Murodjon Akhmadaliev to win a split decision. The scores were 115-113 (x2), and one card 118-110 for Akhmadaliev. Tapales won a lot of early rounds to win the fight.

Featherweight Raymond Ford became a contender as he defeated Jessie Magdaleno in a huge step-up for Ford. Magdaleno hit the canvas in rounds four and eleven, as Ford won via the scores of 119-107, 119-107, 116-110.

The undefeated WBA #1 super welterweight Israil Madrimov won a lackluster stay-busy fight against Raphael Igbokwe as Madrimov fought at middleweight to stay busy. The scores were 100-90, 9-91, 99-91.

Fresno’s own Marc Castro who is fighting at lightweight stopped Ricardo Lopez in the seventh round via a technical knockout.
