Erickson Lubin knocks out Jorge Cota
Junior middleweight Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (17-0 12KOs) knocked out Jorge Cota (25-1 22KOs) in the fourth round of an exciting television opener for Showtime Boxing on CBS from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Lubin was given all he could handle early as Cota used relentless pressure along with awkward movement. In the third round, Lubin landed a lot of flush power shots none of which seemingly stopped Cota from coming forward.
The end to the fight came in the next round as Lubin landed a solid overhand left that put Cota on the canvas as he was unable to beat the count.
With the win, Lubin is now the mandatory for WBC junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo.
