Alan Sanchez, Jose Hernandez win in Brooks, CA

Welterweight contender Alan Sanchez (20-3-1 10KOs) got an eight-round decision over Ramses Agaton (20-7-3 10KOs) in the main event of Don Chargin Productions and Paco Presents Boxing card from Cache Creek Casino and Resort in Brooks, CA. Sanchez won every round, but was thrown off at first by Agaton’s timing, which was awkward as well left hand that he tried to time with Sanchez jab. Sanchez took over the fight in the second half and dominated. The judges had it 80-72 on all three cards.

In the co-main event, a highly debated and controversial decision occurred as Los Angeles, CA Jose Hernandez (19-3-1 9KOs) got the majority decision over local favorite Ryan “The Rhino” Bourland (14-2 5KOs) to win Bourland’s GBO light heavyweight title. The bout was awkward mostly fought on the inside with clinches, but it appeared Bourland landed the cleaner punches of the two, regardless the judges scored it 76-76 with two having it 77-75.

Bantamweight Bruno Escalante (16-3-1 6KOs) stopped Javier Gallo in the sixth round of a scheduled eight-round bout. Escalante dominated with speed and getting off first as he dropped Gallo two times prior before getting the stoppage.

Cruiserweight Blake “The Beast” McKernan (7-0 5KOs) picked up a six-round decision over Miguel Cubus (11-15 8KOs). McKernan dropped Cubus twice, but Cubus, who used angles and was not hit cleanly made the fight competitive in spurts.

Featherweight Ivan Vergara (4-0 2KOs) was pushed as he fought a very game Michael Gaxiola (4-13), who presented a hard target to hit cleanly.

In the opening bout, Arnold Dinong (1-0) defeated Tyler Marshall (1-5 1KO) in the opening bout.
