Prograis, Baranchyk win by KO on ShoBox
The vacant interim WBC super lightweight title, for whatever that means, has a new champion as Regis Prograis (21-0, 18 KOs) impressively destroyed former unified WBA/IBF world champion Julius Indongo (22-2, 11 KOs) in two rounds on Friday night at the Deadwood Mountain Grand in Deadwood, South Dakota. Prograis dropped Indongo in the first round and then went on to send Indongo three more times before the bout was called off.
In an eliminator for the IBF eliminator in the junior welterweight division Ivan Baranchyk (17-0, 11 KOs) was far too much for late-replacement fighter Petr Petrov (38-6-2, 18 KOs). Baranchyk dropped Petrov immediately in round one and hurt again in the third round as well another knockdown in the sixth before the bout was called off in the eighth.
Heavyweight Junior Fa (14-0, 8 KOs) scored a pedestrian eight round majority decision over Craig Lewis (14-2-1, 8 KOs), of Detroit, Michigan. The judges saw it 76-76, 78-74, 79-73.
