Jose Ramirez vs. Danny O’Connor Full Card, Start Time, Tickets, July 7tha
On Saturday, July 7th, from the Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA, WBC super lightweight world champion Jose Ramirez will make his first title defense against #15 ranked in the WBC rankings, Danny O’Connor, in his voluntary title defense after winning his title in March at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.
The main card will be televised on ESPN with the undercard airing on ESPN+, the new streaming platform ESPN rolled out earlier this year which has been providing tons of boxing content weekly.
The undercard features Top Rank Inc boxers who are edging into title contention as heavyweight Andy Ruiz Jr. faces Kevin Johnson in a 10-round bout, welterweight Egidijus “The Mean Machine” Kavaliauskas will face Juan Carlos Abreu in a 10-round bout, super featherweight WBC Continental Americas champion Andy Vences will put his belt on the line against Frank De Alba in a 10-round bout, lightweight boxing phenom Gabe Flores Jr will make his California debut in a six-round bout, Madera, CA’s lightweight Bryan Lua will also be in action in a six-round bout as well as super featherweight power-puncher Joseph Adorno, Santos Ortega, Ruben Rodriguez and likable, local fighter Manuel Manzo.
Bouts that stand-out for me to watch are as follows, the main event as Jose Ramirez should get a monstrous walk-out ovation as well as put on a show in Fresno, Kavaliauskas against Abreu, a fight in which Kavaliauskas will have to think and not just apply pressure to win the fight i.e. can’t fight solely as a caveman, Andy Vences versus Frank De Alba as this is the second southpaw in a row, the talented fighter will see, Gabe Flores Jr., a boxing prodigy who is worth a watch and the heavy-handed Joseph Adorno, who will be making his west-coast debut.
Doors open at 3 PM, ticket information here.
