Fresno, CA gets action packed undercard for September 14th

On September 14th, local central valley hero and WBC super lightweight champion Jose Ramirez of Avenal, CA will make his first title defense against Antonio Orozco in 12-round world title fight from the Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA.

Ramirez, a fighter with strong ties to the community in Fresno, Ca is trying to make a statement as he brings his world title back home for the first time whereas the undefeated Orozco has seen discipline stunt his growth as most of his opportunities have been voided by him missing weight. This is an interesting side plot as Ramirez’s last opponent, Danny O’Connor was hospitalized trying to make weight voiding his bout in July with Jose Ramirez.

The undercard for this card is stacked as well featuring a tremendous super lightweight bout between fast-rising prospect Maxim Dadashev, who is coming off a stoppage win over Derleys Perez in a tough bout, taking on former lightweight world champion Antonio DeMarco in a major step-up bout.

Alexander Besputin, who trains with Vasyl Lomachenko, will take on Fairfield’s own Alan Sanchez in a crossroads battle for both. Besputin is the prospect and despite a lot of amateur fights, has only 10 or so in the pros were as Sanchez is nearing the end of his career, but looking for a big win to parlay that into big money.

Super featherweight Jamel Herring will take on upset artist John Vincent Moralde in a very evenly matched bout that will see if Herring can get to the contender status. In Herring’s last two step-up bouts, he lost when moving up, but changing to Terence Crawford’s camp gives him hope that this time will be different. Moralde is a Filipino power puncher who is wild and relentless.

Featherweight Isidro Ochoa of Fresno, Ca is in a career-defining fight as he fights Victor Morales Jr. in a great fight, in which the loser may find their boxing career having to go through the backroads of the sport to come back from. Something very uncommon for fighters with under twelve fights. Ochoa is currently signed to Top Rank Inc, but has struggled as of late, this seems like a barometer fight.

Also featured on the undercard blue-chip prospect Gabe Flores Jr of Stockton, CA in a six-round bout, lightweight Bryan Lua of Madera, CA, Santos Ortega of Indio, CA, but who has ties to Sacramento, Ca, super featherweight Bryan Vasquez and super lightweight Hiroki Okada.
