Arnold Barboza Jr wants to face Jose Ramirez next
Super lightweight Arnold Barboza Jr. returns to action this Saturday night at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona on the undercard of Ray Beltran versus Jose Pedraza for the WBO lightweight title.
Barboza Jr., who is coming off the biggest win of his career, Mike “Yes Indeed” Reed, a former prospect who lost to Barboza and Jose Ramirez in back to back fights. Barboza Jr. now has his eyes set on Ramirez for a future bout.
“I actually was hoping [Jose Ramirez’s fight in September] would be me, but things happen.” said Barboza Jr. “I come ready, I come 100%…[Jose Ramirez] defeated Mike Reed, he got his title shot, I defeated Mike Reed I should get my title shot, but it happens and at the 140 division, I feel I will give anyone trouble.”
Prior to Ramirez’s announced bout against undefeated Antonio Orozco, Arnold Barboza Jr was being heavily speculated as a fighter linked to Ramirez for the September 14th date. Orozco came in, what felt like the eleventh hour and obtained the fight.
For Barboza Jr., a fighter with a good record and has paid his dues fighting on undercards, he wants to step up to the next level for the opportunity of more exposure and to fulfill a lifelong dream of being a world champion
