“Mean Machine” Kavaliauskas punches ticket to Terence Crawford with KO win
Egidijus “Mean Machine” Kavaliauskas (21-0 17KOs) picked up the definitive win of his career as he stopped Roberto Arriaza (17-1 13KOs) in the third round of his scheduled ten-round bout.
The bout was not your traditional Kavaliaskas bout as he had to fight off his back foot to fend off the much bigger Arriaza, but an overhand right in the third round.
The victory not just gives Kavaliauskas a regional form of the WBO title, but also a mandatory position for the WBO welterweight champion, Terence Crawford. Kavaliauskas looked like his old self in this bout as he was a wrecking ball when he fought on the “Solo Boxeo” Top Rank shows a few years ago, and hopes to regain that magic when facing Crawford.
