Murodjon Akhmadaliev makes solid HBO debut

Super bantamweight Murodjon Akhmadaliev (5-0 4KOs) of Uzbekistan made a memorable HBO debut sadly it will be his last outing on HBO as HBO will only air one more live boxing match before leaving the sport indefinitely, as Akamadaliev won a ten-round decision over Isaac Zarate (16-4-3 2KOs).

Akhamadaliev landed at will as he mixed up a quality variety of shot to the body and the head. Akhamadaliev got hit a bit, but that mostly because of his offensive nature of his style. Zarate showed a good chin, but his power didn’t match that of his chin as all he could do was absorb shots.

Akhmadaliev had two flaws I saw, one) being that he didn’t always turn his punches over and two) on the inside he would smoother his shots at times and be forced into a clinch.

The end came in the ninth-round in which a right hook from the southpaw stance followed by a left hook left Zarate groggy, but still standing forcing the referee intervened calling a stop to the fight.
