The Fight Hour boxing radio show cancelled, big blow to Fresno boxing

Popular ESPN 940 Saturday talk show, The Fight Hour will no longer exist as the programming director called a halt to all future episodes. The news came after a guest of the show used vulgar language on the radio show multiple times, one in which the FCC was unfond of after a listener to the radio programming complained.

The news is a tough and sad break as The Fight Hour was one of the only mainstream avenues of publicity for fighters from California in all regions. Despite a boom in boxing in terms of network deals, boxing is still miles behind in terms of sharing space in the media landscape.

The show has been a personal favorite of ours even having our editor-in-chief, Lukie Ketelle on the show multiple times.

We would like to wish Derek, Pete Lopes, Carmen and Ohana Joe the best moving forward as this is very sad news for the boxing community as a whole.

Yes, TFH has been canceled and is no longer on 940 espn.. Due to a FCC violation.. one of our on air guests, even after being told to keep it clean, used the word mother fucker. Our show's producer got it dumped. We are live but on a short time delay. But when you dump you are 100% live, until system goes back to a time delay…and the dumb ass said it again. The station reaches from Sacto to the grapevine and over to the coast.. the words were on air.. the interview was terminated but damage was done. A listener emailed the station. The owner called me, was not happy to do it, but he had no choice. TFH was canceled… sincerely I want to thank my followers, TFH followers, and all the guests on the show.. I remember you all.. One persons actions has affected a lot of lives.. Thank you to John Ostlund and Chris Pacheco for the opportunity.. @cgprogram for your mentorship and guidance. @promoter559 for opening the door, @bobbythistle3 for producing kick ass shows. @newrockhammer for the props, the local gyms @alemanboxing and @heartbeatboxingfresno ……..@thechampside @danielq_86 @supremeboxing @nancyr505 for the hot info and takes. Coach Pete for believing in me. And bringing in a guest list that is unmatched..And Carmen and Ohana Joe for always helping the team out. And a thank you for all the support I got at home to do this show…. we had a kick ass run..
