Ivan Redkach, Willie Monroe Jr win on FS1
Welterweight Ivan Redkach (23-4-1, 18KO) stopped Devon Alexander (27-6-1, 14KO) in the sixth round on Saturday night at the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, California, more than likely ending Alexander’s comeback attempts at his career. Redkach landed an uppercut that floored Alexander who never really recovered. Alexander got up, but was unstable hit the deck two more times, in which the ref, waived the bout off.
Redkach, who was trained by Shane Mosley for this fight, whereas Devon Alexander was trained by Roy Jones Jr.
Two-time world title challenger Willie Monroe Jr. (24-3, 6 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Hugo Centeno Jr. (27-3, 14 KOs) as Monroe all, but assure himself another world title shot.
The judges saw it 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94 for Monroe Jr.
Modesto, Ca’s Rodney Hernández (13-7-2, 4KO) followed up his massive upset of Thompson Boxing’s LaRon Mitchell last year with a first-round knockout over previously undefeated Onoriode “Godzilla” Ehwarieme (17-1, 16KO). A left hook landed by Hernandez laid out Ehwarieme with a second left in the first round.
Jose Balderas (7-0, 2KO) showed off his power with four knockdowns and a fourth-round knockout over Julio Garcia (3-1, 2KO) in a bantamweight bout.
Jhack Tepora (23-0, 18KO) won a unanimous decision victory over Jose Luis Gallegos (16-7, 12KO) in a ten round featherweight bout. The bout was scored 99-91 on all three cards.
Former world champion Marlon Tapales (33-2, 16 KOs) of the Philippines scored a third-round knockout over Roberto Castaneda (23-12-2, 16 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round super bantamweight fight.
Super lightweight Justin Cardona (3-0, 2 KOs) of Salinas, California made quick work of J.C Sanders (0-3) stopping him in the first round.
Super bantamweight Shon Mondragon (3-0, 2 KOs) got a unanimous decision over Jose Naranjo (3-10-2, 1 KO).
Jose Perez battled Sacramento, Ca’s Mario Ayala to a draw on the undercard as well.
