Willie Shaw Jr., Vic Pasillas win in San Mateo, Ca

Super lightweight Willie Shaw of San Francisco, Ca, got redemption for his lone-career loss defeating Jose Maruffo in an eight-round bout from the San Mateo Convention Center in San Mateo, Ca.

Maruffo started strong, but Shaw was able to calm the storm and fight at distance in the latter half of the fight pulling out a majority decision win.

In the co-main event, “Vicious” Vic Pasillas stopped veteran Ernesto Guerrero in one-round. Pasillas hurt Guerrero early in the fight, but the veteran showed a game poker, but was dropped seconds later by a speedy combination. Pasillas was at one point signed with Top Rank Inc, and is a legit world title contender.

Cruiserweight Andres Salas went the distance for the first time defeating Fernando Caro in a rematch of their bout from earlier this year, winning via a four-round unanimous decision. Salas was the more technical of the two, landing the straighter punches, but the aggressiveness and awkwardness of Caro presented many problems for Salas at times.

Super welterweight Chris Washington needed only 1:06 second of the very first round to stop former MMA world title contender David Douglas, who dropped his hands and taunted Washington, which lead to a brutal jab-cross that knocked out Douglas.

Jonathan Rubio of Santa Rosa, Ca, defeated a tough Matt Gavers, who forced Rubio to stay disciplined in this fight to win a four-round unanimous decision.

The trilogy between Iris Contreras and Beki Light was canceled as Contreras was taken to the hospital before the fight. The bout was canceled due to that.
