Stephen Fulton Out, Angelo Leo versus Tramaine Williams New Bout For WBO Title

Jonathan Leir of The Ring Walk Podcast first reported Stephen Fulton and two of his coaches tested positive for COVID-19, making Fulton unable to compete. The new main event on Saturday, August 1st, on Showtime, will be Angelo Leo taking on Tramaine Williams for the WBO super bantamweight world title.

Williams, who was set to face Raeese Aleem on the undercard, has now been elevated, and will be getting his first crack at a world title. Williams, a decorated amateur is a southpaw, and Leo spent the camp preparing for an orthodox fighter. Conversely, Williams prepped for a come forward aggressive Aleem, and will now face a cardio machine in Leo, who is known to shadow box for 40 minutes straight at the Mayweather Boxing Club.

The co-feature with the number one contender spot for the WBO featherweight title on the line, will see Prince Ranch Boxing’s Raeese Aleem versus late-replacement Marcus Bates, who stepped up to take the fight on 72-hours notice. Aleem, one of the emerging stars of 122 lbs., will be a tough test for anyone, but Bates is courageous and respectable for taking the fight on late-notice.

The Showtime card will feature a three-fight main card on Saturday starting at 6 PM PST.
