Umar Cheema Tired of Adam Saleh’s Antics, Wants Boxing Match

Umar Cheema is letting it be known he wants to face Adam Saleh, a popular YouTuber, who has over four million followers and thousands of followers on various social media websites.

“I want to teach this guy a lesson,” said Cheema in an interview included below. “I have seen people who have been in the gym since the age of eight training boxing, and this guy is trying to skip the line in the sport of boxing. It would be like if a middle schooler got to play in the NBA, it makes the sport look bad.”

Cheema, who won the following amateur tournaments, Blue and Gold, Desert Storm Adidas National, Florida State Pal Ringside, Pakistan Olympic boxing champion Title as well the Sugar Bert tournament.

On top of all that, Cheema is a two-time finalist at the world championship, furthering his expansive amateur career. Yet, for undisclosed reasons, he had to step aside from the sport over the past few years, but is looking to return soon.

“I am just getting things sorted out so then I can return to train with my coach Pedro Diaz in Flordia,” said Cheema, as the fighter trains with one of the best coaches in the game currently, best known for his work with Miguel Cotto and Guillermo Rigondeaux.

Cheema’s boxing pedigree is deep sparring the likes of Fabian Maidana, Jesus Cuellar, Patrick Harris, Gervonta “Tank” Davis, Yurirokis Gamboa, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Evgeny Radovich, Brandon Rios, and Vasyl Lomachenko, to name a few.

That being said, his YouTube rival, enter the sport of boxing has given him new motivation to train and be a part of the sport, once again.

“It’d be a great pro debut for me,” said Cheema. “I will fight him coming off the couch, that’s how confident I am that I will beat him.”

For Cheema, this is not just a matter of disliking someone for online antics, it is also a matter of disrespecting the sport.

“Andre Ward once said ‘if respect boxing it’ll respect you and if you disrespect it, it’ll disrespect you’.” Cheema stated.

The overall tenor and basis for the rivalry is that Cheema doesn’t like that someone with no pedigree is looking to emerge into boxing seemingly as a publicity stunt to obtain more followers for various social media platforms.

Cheema is looking to fight at a little above 135 lbs in his first fight back, ideally a catchweight, but possibly even at 140 lbs, if need be.
