Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder III Fight Week Preview

Possibly the greatest heavyweight trilogy in the history of the sport will look to conclude though we’re never quite sure what will occur when these two meet, as the first two fights have been one of folklore.

The narrative arch has done a 180 degree turn from the point of the first fight in which Tyson Fury was battling drug-and-alcohol substance abuse issues, and Wilder was looked at as a mythic boogeyman, one void of the traditional skills of the sport, but an all-time great puncher, who despite his flaws, could knock out anyone. Though Wilder is still seen as puncher, his mystic is now gone.

In the first bout, Fury would get off the canvas twice, and seemingly outbox Wilder, only to get a draw. The second bout saw Fury no longer respect Wilder both in the pre-fight, and the fight itself, as not unlike Andre Ward versus Sergey Kovalev II, Fury just walked through Wilder, en route to stopping him, or should say Wilder’s cornerman at the time, Mark Breland, throwing the towel in.

What followed was a parade of excuses from Wilder including, but not limited to, his ring outfit being too heavy, his water being spiked, his assistant coach Mark Breland not being loyal for throwing in the towel for him, and much more. Essentially, Wilder seemed to be in deep denial, and Fury became one of the most notable fighters in the sport, based on the massive win, and his ability to call his shot leading into the fight.

Wilder has now enlisted a former opponent of his, Malik Scott to train him, and has been very cryptic with the content he presents. Fury contracted COVID-19 in the build-up to the previous fight date and has not shown much of his training on the internet up until this point.

The big question is: can Wilder now overcome the adversity he has faced over the past year to redeem himself? This is truly an interesting fight.

Get ready for an entertaining fight week.

Helenius vs Kownacki

Robert Helenius knocked out Adam Kownacki in their previous bout, and now the two will meet again in an all-action bout before the main event. Adam Kownacki to put it lightly has flaws in his defense, and Helenius is a big guy who throws straight punches. Helenius also was in camp with Deontay Wilder for the build-up to this bout.

Kownacki was a guy being built by the PBC as a future heavyweight contender, but losing to Helenius was a big blow. This is a fight that will tell a lot about the ceiling of Kownacki.

Efe vs Frank Sanchez

The battle of two heavyweights who occupy a similar space in the sport, Efe Ajagba takes on Frank Sanchez in a battle of unbeaten heavyweights. Neither heavyweight has ever gotten a major push from the media or a promoter, and this is a marquee win for both guys.

Ajagba is a 2016 Olympian, who is a big puncher, but still looks a bit raw at times, but with his win over Jonnie Rice, has gone rounds with true spoilers, and won.

Frank Sanchez is a Cuban heavyweight, who could never get out of the shadow of Luis Ortiz, and hasn’t picked up a win that has stood out to fight fans in general.

This will elevate one of the fighters, and both guys train at notable camps. Sanchez trains with Eddy Reynoso at Canelo’s Gym, and Efe Ajabga spent his camp with Tyson Fury.

Jared Anderson – Next American Heavyweight Star

Jared Anderson looks to be the next American heavyweight to follow, and his performance on this card against Vladimir Tereshkin, should be yet another outstanding performance.

Anderson is a generational puncher, and an entertainer – and could be, the heavyweight version of Teofimo Lopez if all things pan out. As Anderson brings flash, flare and a dynamic personality along with a high-level skillset. Anderson should be groomed into one of the biggest stars of the sport in American boxing over the next five years.

Anderson is the heavyweight on this undercard to make sure you watch.

TV Undercard

The undercard will be split between FS1 and ESPN2 and will feature a slew of good match-up most notably, the return of former world champion Julian “J-Rock” Williams versus Vladimir Hernandez, an upset-minded spoiler who just beat Alfredo Angulo, and holds two wins over the local market favorite, Daniel Valdivia, as well as a great amateur in Aaron Coley.

Another compelling bout is, Edgar Berlanga versus Marcelo Esteban Coceres, a fighter who gave Billy Joe Saunders an honest fight.

Other notable undercard bouts are former world champion Rances Barthelemy and the debut of Bruce Carrington.

Teofimo vs Kambosos Jnr Taken Off BoxRec

Since we last sent you a newsletter a lot has happened with Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jnr, as the road to a career-high payday just got that much longer and bumpier for both.

Kambosos did not sign a contract to move the bout from October 4th to October 16th, and now the fight is off for October 16th

As for if the IBF lightweight mandatory will occur, Kambosos Jnr’s legal team is pleading to the IBF to say Triller has defaulted on the fight, whereas Triller is looking for Isaac Cruz-Gonzalez to be moved into the number one spot, and Kambosos Jnr to lose his mandatory spot.

The whole thing is a mess, and in the end, one of the most exciting modern American fighters Teofimo Lopez will be out of the ring for over a year, after the biggest win of his career, which is good for no one.

The new card now is as follows –

The event will be headlined by Cletus Seldin versus William Silva on Saturday, and followed by a performance by Super Cat. On Sunday, Big Daddy Kane vs. Krs-One will occur

Munguia vs. Rosado Ticket Information

The biggest test of former world champion Jaime Munguia’s (37-0, 30 KOs) career is set as he takes on the legend of the L.A. boxing gyms, “King” Gabriel Rosado (26-13-1, 15 KOs) in a 12-round middleweight battle at Anaheim’s Honda Center on Saturday, November 13. The bout will be broadcast on DAZN, starting at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET.

Tickets for Munguia vs. Rosado go on sale Wednesday, October 6 at 10 a.m. PT and are priced at $250, $150, $100, and $50 not including applicable service charges. Tickets will be available for purchase at ticketmaster.com. Please note that California Department of Health guidelines and other protocols relating to admission requirements may be in place for this event, which may include a requirement that all guests show proof of a negative COVID-19 test or full vaccination status.

Mikey Garcia Fresno Fight

We are roughly two weeks out from the Fresno bout involving one of the best modern Mexican fighters in the world, Mikey Garcia as he fights in Fresno, California.

The undercard features two world title fights, most notably one with “Bam” Rodriguez, a pound-for-pound level boxer, as well as Brisbane, CA’s Charlie Sheehy making his pro debut, Marc Castro, Diego Pacheco and Khalil Coe.

Probellum Signs Regis, Badou and Eimantas Stanionis

Probellum has the first three announced fighters under contract which are former world champion Regis Prograis, former two-division world champion Badou Jack, and prospect Eimantas Stanionis.

All three of these fighters should be in big fights, and all have either had fights outside of the United States and/or have a global-type appeal.

Xander Zayas Will Be Co-Main Event To Herring vs. Stevenson

Xander Zayas (10-0, 7 KOs), the 19-year-old Puerto Rican boxer who is looking to be the next “Capital G Guy” from the island, will face Dan Karpency in a six-round junior middleweight bout Saturday, October 23 at State Farm Arena. This will be Zayas’ debut on ESPN in a primetime spot.

Also on the undercard, Nico Ali Walsh (1-0, 1 KO), grandson of “The Greatest,” Muhammad Ali, takes on James Westley II (1-0), from Toledo, Ohio, in a four-round middleweight tilt.

“Boo Boo” Andrade Returns

Demetrius Andrade puts his WBO Middleweight world title up against Jason Quigley at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire on Friday November 19, live worldwide on DAZN.

The undercard will feature M.J. Akhmadaliev versus Ronny Rios in a unification of the super bantamweight world title picture as the IBF and WBA super bantamweight world titles will be on the line, WBC flyweight champion Julio Cesar Martinez will defend his belt against McWilliams Arroyo, and Kali Reis will face Jessica Camara for the IBF, IBO and WBO super lightweight women’s world title.

UFC Results

A rather sleepy main event saw former light heavyweight title contender Thiago Santos defeat Johnny Walker in a fight that seemed like “can’t miss action on paper”, and was anything but that when the bell rang.

Other bouts occurred on the undercard, if you’re a hardcore fan you probably know – but from my stand-point this card was a crossroads event, for many fighters at unfortunate positions in their career.

Bellator Event Happens In The Middle Of The Workday in U.S.

Michael “Venum” Page edged a decision over Douglas Lima in a bout that took place in London, England. After the bout, Page stated that even though he won the bout, he wants a trilogy with Lima for his next bout.

Leah McCourt won a decision in the co-main event over Jessica Borga. McCourt has the makings of being a star-in-the-making.
