R.I.P. Louis Jordan, A Bay Area Boxing Legend
Louis Jordan passed away late last night, but it wasn’t before leaving a huge impact on boxing in the Bay Area, and helping shape the lives of countless lives in the process.
We interviewed the fame coach last year, and below is the full interview so you can remember him in his entirety, as well as reflect on who he was as a person.
“I tried to teach when I was an amateur boxer,” said Jordan with a smile on how he got into coaching.
Sometimes being a teacher isn’t a learned trait, but it is something you can’t help, but do. Jordan was a born leader, and born teacher as his desire to fight was not as much as his want to help others.
Originally based out of Oakland, California, Jordan would have strong ties to the Oakland community, but most might know him for his decades upon decades of work in Modesto as he reshaped the Modesto PAL boxing program.
Jordan’s lineage now is seen as his great-grandson is Damian “Pistol” Flores of Ceres, California, who is one of the best young fighters in the country, and Team Flores will continue the great coaches legacy in Northern and Central California.
