Angel Ruiz Aims To Upset Collazo On ProBox TV, Wednesday
TV is back with its monthly edition of Wednesday Night Fights next week on April 19 in Plant City, Florida. Featuring three bouts televised at no cost to viewers, the headline fight will be between former WBA Welterweight World Champion Luis Collazo (39-8 20 KOs) and Angel Ruiz Astorga (17-2-1, 12 KOs) over ten rounds.
Collazo had 16 months out of the ring following his no-contest bout with current world champion Eimantas Stanionis due to an accidental head clash. The veteran is looking to make a bold statement upon his return.
“I’m coming back to achieve the impossible. I’m not here to take part, I want to go all the way. I took a bit of time away after my last fight and realized and can’t let my career end like that. I’m 41 now, but I feel better than ever. I’ve always been a clean-living man.”
In the co-main event, Ghana’s Prince Dzanie (23-0, 19 KOs) will take on Mexico’s Jose Salas Reyes (11-0, 9 KOs). The 2008 Olympian, Dzanie, will put his perfect record on the line against a young and also undefeated prospect Salas Reyes, who is making his debut on American soil. The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds at junior featherweight.
The third televised bout will feature 6 rounds of action in the welterweight division, southpaw Vadim Musaev (5-0, 2 KOs) currently training out of Florida, will clash with the Mexican Martin Alvarez Miranda (7-0, 6 KOs). Musaev, currently coming off a first-round stoppage victory over Enver Halili, has his next test over 6 rounds at the White Sands Events Centre.
The all-star commentary team consists of former world champions Paulie Malignaggi and Chris Algieri alongside Mike Goldberg in English. The Spanish-speaking team will consist of Claudia Trejos and hall-of-famer Juan Manuel Márquez.
