Bryant Jennings, Jesse Hart win on ESPN card from AC

Heavyweight Bryant Jennings picked up a hard-fought eight-round knockout win over Alexander Dimitrenko in a scheduled 12-round main event from The Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The bout was ugly. Dimitrenko is a 6’7″, who is much bigger than the far more talented Jennings and created a stalemate of a fight. Jennings got the better, but the fight felt like a car that was nearly starting but could never quite get the engine to kick into gear.

The fourth round saw a jab of Jennings get countered by Dimitrenko right-hand which sent Jennings to the canvas. Jennings swung the fight in the eighth round with three knockdowns the final one being a dramatic right uppercut that the ref waived the bout off the minute he touched the canvas. Dimitrenko got up quickly, but the referee called te fight off.

Jennings is more than likely in the running to fight Joseph Parker.

In the co-main event, super middleweight Jesse “Hollywood” Hart knocked out Mike Gavronski in the third round of their contested bout. Hart started fast and was far too much for the outgunned Gavronski, who was dropped twice and unable to answer the bell the second time. Hart is now on a three-fight knockout streak after losing to WBO super middleweight champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez.

Jesse Hart is more than likely going to rematch Gilberto Ramirez in the fall unless Ramirez vacates the title, which Ramirez has hinted that he might do.

2016 Olympian Shakur Stevenson from Newark, NJ picked up an eight-round decision over Carlos Ruiz, in a bout he won every second of every round.

Philadelphia’s most active fighter Christian Carto remained undefeated (16-0, 11 KOs) with an 8-round unanimous decision over game journeyman Javier Gallo of Tijuana, Mexico (25-16-1, 13 KOs).

In an 8-round junior middleweight fight, Thomas LaManna, Millville, NJ, 26-2-1, 9 KOs, beat Matthew Strode of Marion, SC, 25-7, 9 KOs, by unanimous decision. All three official scores were 79-71.

Lightweight Joseph Adorno (9-0, 9 KOs) knocked out Agustine Mauras in the first round of a scheduled six-round bout.

Heavyweight Oleksandr Teslenko picked up a six-round decision over Avery Gibson in an eight-round bout. The judges saw it 60-54, 59-54, and 58-55.
