Former world title contender Tureano Johnson won the NABF middleweight from former champion Jason Quigley of Ireland, as Johnson overwhelmed Quigley for the course of nine rounds leading to a technical knockout from a corner stoppage. Quigley won the first round and maybe the second, but the third round Quigley was on the ropes with Johnson consistently punching Quigley, who elected to stand with Johnson. Johnson hurt Quigley in the sixth round.

Quigley’s coach, Dominic Ingle stopped the fight in between the ninth and tenth round

Super bantamweight Leonardo Baez got the biggest win of his career defeating two-time Argentian Olympian Alberto Melian, an amateur who was hoping to be fast-tracked. Baez derailed that with pure pressure as the Joel Diaz trained fighter kept on him from bell to bell forcing him to fight at a fast pace, and one that was unsettling. With the win, Baez is now the new NABA super bantamweight championship.

The judges had it 97-93 on all three cards.

2012 U.S. Olympic Bronze women’s bronze medalist flyweight boxer Marlen Esparza defeated tough veteran Sonia Osorio. This was Esparza’s second bout since giving birth to her first child. The judges scored the bout 79-73 two times and 78-74, and that felt right.

After the bout, Esparza stated that she wants to fight Seniesa Estrada next. Estrada had faced Osorio prior and stopped her as a thing of note.

Former world title contender and now lightweight Carlos Morales stopped Rosekie Cristobal in the first round of a scheduled ten-round bout.

Flyweight Ricardo Sandoval kept his WBC youth intercontinental title by knocking out Marco Sustaita in five rounds. Sandoval, a fifteen win fighter with only one career loss, is getting close to a world title shot with his impressive record. Sandoval dropped Sustaita in the first round, but Sandoval was dropped twice in the fight, once in the first and once in the second.

L.A. super featherweight veteran Charles Huerta picked up an eight-round decision over Recky Dulay.
