Showtime Releases Three Cards for the Second Quarter
Dan Rafael reported earlier today on Twitter that Showtime would be adding three tripleheaders to its 2023 schedule. There is one card scheduled for April 8th, one for May 13th, and the other for June 24th.
The April 8th card will take place at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. Sebastian Fundora (20-0-1, 13 KOs) will defend his WBC “interim” title against Brian Mendoza (21-2, 15 KOs) in the main event. The co-feature is a ten round 140lb bout between Brandun Lee (27-0, 23 KOs) and Pedro Campa (34-2-1, 23 KOs). The opener is another ten-rounder, featuring undefeated featherweights Luis Nunez (18-0, 13 KOs) and Christian Olivo (20-0-1, 7 KOs).
Showtime will have a junior welterweight tripleheader on May 13th, at a location to be announced. The headliner will be Alberto Puello’s (21-0, 10 KOs) first defense of his WBA 140lb title against Rolando “Rolly” Romero (14-1, 12 KOs). Gary Antuanne Russell (16-0, 16 KOs), who may be140lbs’ most promising young talent, will be in the co-main event. He will be in action in a ten-rounder against Kent Cruz (16-0-3, 10 KOs). The first fight of the telecast finds former world champion Rances Barthelemy (29-2-1, 15 KOs) against Omar Juarez (14-1, 5 KOs) in a ten round bout.
Boxing will once again be back at the Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 24th. WBC “interim” middleweight champion Carlos Adames (22-1, 17 KOs) will defend his title against former unified junior middleweight Julian “J Rock” Williams (28-3-1, 16 KOs). The chief support will be an intriguing ten round 154lb battle between Erickson Lubin (24-2, 17 KOs) and Luis Arias (20-3-1, 9 KOs). The show will open up with IBF Super Flyweight champion Fernando Martinez (15-0, 8 KOs) defending his title against Jade Bornea (18-0, 12 KOs).
