Former world champion Ricardo Mayorga had one of the more memory press conferences of his career, which is saying something for a man who had plexiglass put up between himself and Fernando Vargas in year’s past. Mayorga in the video above slapped the butt of Shane Mosley’s girlfriend causing Mosley to get emotional and try to choke out Mayorga, but many are quick to wonder if this was authentic, including Mayorga.

Mayorga told Nicaraguan journalists that the altercation was staged and that Mosley had put him up to it. Mosley on the other hand, vehemently denied the claims made by Mayorga as he said that it was real, very real.

The biggest surprise of all is how in a subtle way, Mosley-Mayorga II is somehow getting more attention fight week than the bigger and more competitive fight in Leo Santa Cruz-Abner Mares. Earlier this week a judge allowed Mayorga to fight despite a Don King lawsuit that was filed to halt the bout as the judge stated Mayorga essentially is not an active fighter, thereby allowing the fight to continue.
