Spence steamrolls Bundu in six rounds

by Sevak Sarkisian

In the main event of a packed house Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. (21-0 18KOs) had to work for it, but brutally stopped Leonard “The Lion” Bundu in the sixth round of his main event bout at the Ford amphitheater at the Coney Island Boardwalk.

Bundu surprised all by pressing the young Spence early and smothering most of Spence’s work. The fantastic body puncher, Spence, was unable to land his hard shots. Spence began to find his rhythm in the fourth round as he started to pick off Bundu who tried to work on the inside.

The fight would forever swing as Spence Jr would drop Bundu twice in the sixth round, the final knockdown left Bundu on the canvas brutally.

The win makes Errol Spence Jr. the number #1 contender for Kell Brook’s IBF welterweight title. Kell Brook is fighting at middleweight in his next bout and it is unclear whether he will ever return.
