Mayweather Fails In Challenge Of Pacquiao’s Fight Night Gloves
Per ESPN, the legitimacy of Manny Pacquiao’s gloves legitimacy was brought to the Nevada State Athletic Commission by Floyd Mayweather’s camp despite the fact that the commission had approved the gloves already.
The issue stems from Pacquiao’s choice of gloves, Reyes, which are know as a “puncher’s glove” and one that the Mayweather’s camp felt that even factory sealed was inadequate since the glove uses horse hair for padding, which they felt didn’t meet the requirements of the contract. On the contrasting side, Mayweather will be using Grant gloves, a glove known for extra padding and one that protects the hand injury, more so.
A similar issue marred the Floyd Mayweather-Marcos Maidana I fight in which Maidana was not allowed to use the gloves he wanted to use for the fight, a glove similar to the Reyes glove, Pacquiao will be using. The two camps came to terms about five hours prior to yesterday’s weigh in as the issue was settled.
