Froch stripped of WBA title, is retirement near?

Carl Froch has been stripped of WBA super middleweight title and may not fight again says his promoter Eddie Hearn.

Froch who was last seen knocking out George Groves in front of 80,000 people at Wembley stadium has been inactive since the fight, which is nearly a year ago. Froch has lobbied for “big fights” with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Andre Ward, Gennady Golovkin, Bernard Hopkins, etc, but none have come to fruition.

In fact an elbow injury was the only thing that stopped a late fall match-up between himself and Chavez Jr. in Las Vegas, NV. The belt was stripped due to an inability to schedule a fight with Andre Ward, a man who the WBA deemed the number one contender. Ward will now face Paul Smith in Oakland, CA June 20th for the title.

The new question now is will Froch remain in the sport as the 37 year-old is wealthy and seemingly without an opponent for one last fight.
