Adrien Broner vs. Shawn Porter confirmed for June 20th
As first reported by Michael Woods last week and then confirmed today, a mega-fight between Adrien Broner and Shawn Porter will take place on June 20th on NBC. This will serve as the fourth installment of Premier Boxing Champions as it will be a battle of Ohio as Porter originally from Cleveland will take on Broner from Cincinnati.
The bout will be contested at super light welterweight (“Danny Garcia weight”) with the maximum weight come fight night being 145 lbs. The biggest detail with in the contract is that neither fighter can rehydrate to more than 155 lbs. come fight night. The big question would be when the weigh in for rehydration will happen, meaning would it be at lunch or after the following day since that could effect Porter.
The co-main event will be top prospect Errol Spence Jr. taking on Roberto Garcia in a welterweight bout. Garcia is most known for missing weight against Shawn Porter causing last minute replacement foe for Porter.
