Paulie Malignaggi was looking to make his return to the ring after a devastating knockout loss to Shawn Porter last year that left many wondering if Malignaggi’s days in the ring had ended as his commentating career has blossomed over the past few years on CBS on Showtime. As first reported by USA Today, Malignaggi was injured in training camp with an undisclosed injury and has not been available for comment. Malignaggi was originally scheduled to face Danny O’ Connor on May 29th in co-main event of PBC on Spike TV card in Brooklyn, NY headlined by Amir Khan vs. Chris Algieri.

To replace the bout will be a good one between Javier Fortuna who takes on Bryan Vazquez, which will be pushed back a week as it was first scheduled for May 23rd in Boston, Mass on the undercard of Andre Dirrell-James DeGale. The bout will solidify a contender at the 130 lbs division as both fighters have been one fight away from a title for the last few years. This bout should set up a title fight for the winner.
