Kell Brook stops Gavin, wants Brandon Rios next

IBF welterweight champion, Kell Brook, rounded out an exciting card from London, England resonating out of the O2 Arena. Brook, who faced unconventional Frankie Gavin whom he stopped in the sixth round of the main event.

Brook found a little bit of trouble finding Gavin in the early going as Gavin a southpaw created awkward angles as Gavin appeared to be trying to spoil Brook’s second title defense in the UK. Once again a theme of Brook’s fights played out as Brook outmuscled Gavin who by the sixth round was looking to be nearly out of the contest. Brook hurt Gavin late in round six as a stoppage came with Gavin on the ropes with nine seconds remaining in the round.

After the bout Brook showed frustration with Amir Khan whom Brook feels is being far too difficult to make a fight in the United Kingdom and instead fixed his focus on Brandon Rios. Rios who stopped Mike Alvarado in the finale to their trilogy, Rios has been inactive since then.

On the undercard, Brandon Rios’ teammate “The Mexican Russian” Evgeny Gradovich lost his IBF featherweight title to Lee Selby as he was dominated before a head butt forced the fight to go to the cards
