Via an official statement on the World Boxing Council’s official website, former lightweight WBC champion, Antonio has called it a career. DeMarco who reached the height of his career by defeating both Jorge Linares and John Molina in stunning fashion saw a dramatic decline after losing to Adrien Broner.

Since the Broner loss DeMarco made an ill-fated run at super lightweight were he fell short to Jessie Vargas and recently Rances Barthelemy. DeMarco was a testament to hard work and dedication as his his narrative had moments in which he was eating food out of garbage cans and suffering unbearable poverty and made it all the way to being a world champion.

“I want to thank God that boxing and the people always supported me. Thanks for everything you gave during my career. It’s difficult  but I am sure God will set me more goals and dreams to fulfill.” said DeMarco in a prepared statement

Below are a tribute to two of the best moments of DeMarco’s career (videos are not hosted or were put up by ITRBoxing.com)
