Filipino champ Donnie Nietes continues dominate ways with title defense

WBO light flyweight champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes (36-1-4, 21 KOs) scored  unanimous decision over former IBF/WBO strawweight champion Francisco “Chihuas” Rodriguez (17-3-1, 11 KOs) on Saturday night at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City, Philippines. Rodriguez who found himself in a fight of the year contender last year against Katsunari Takayama, found himself at a loss for what to do against the dominant Nietes. Nietes who easily outpointed Nietes for the majority of the fight matched fire with fire when Rodriguez began to exchange late as Rodriguez began to look for the knockout. By the end of the fight, Rodriguez was battered and bruised as Nietes picked up his eleventh title win in a row making him the longest reigning belt holder in Filipino history
