Sauerland wins purse bid for Abraham-Ramirez title fight
Team Sauerland won the WBO purse bid to stage the fight between WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (44-4, 29 KOs) and undefeated mandatory challenger Gilberto Ramirez (33-0, 24 KOs). The winning bid was $1,563,057, edging out Top Rank’s bid of $1.5 million. The proposed date of WBO championship fight is April 9 in Berlin, although there is also a possibility that it could land on the Pacquiao-Bradley 3 card in the USA as Top Rank hinted at that heavily yesterday due to the economics. Abraham would get 80% of the purse bid money if the fight is contested in Las Vegas as opposed to 75% if contested Germany, where most of Abraham’s fights have been since the “Super Six” tournament.
