Crawford stops Lundy in five, Verdejo wins decision in co-main event

WBO junior welterweight world champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (28-0, 20 KOs) scored a fifth round TKO over “Hammerin’” Henry Lundy (26-6-1, 13 KOs) on Saturday night in The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Lundy started fast and seemingly won the early rounds, but was unable to sustain as clean punching from Crawford tired Lundy. The fifth round saw Lundy hit the canvas after Crawford landed a solid shot that put him on the ropes, minutes later referee Steve Willis intervened to stop the fight at 2:09 into the fifth round.*

In a rather uneventful co-main event lightweight contender Felix Verdejo (20-0, 14 KOs) defeated Willian Silva (23-1, 14 KOs) over tedious 10 round decision for the WBO Latino title bout. Verdejo held every advantage in the fight, but seemingly couldn’t slow himself down to set-up punches that could of lead to the finish, the end result was a dominant performance that lacked the finish fight fans might have hoped for as Verdejo now has earned two decision wins on when fighting on HBO.

The judges scored the bout 100-90, 100-90, 99-91 all for Verdejo.
