Carl Frampton stripped of title for not fighting Rigondeaux

WBA super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton was stripped of his title today for not facing Guillermo Rigondeaux in his next bout. Quigg, who took one voluntary defense against Scott Quigg whom he defeated in February by split decision.

Frampton, who had to fight Rigondeaux next to defend his title show no intention of fighting Rigondeaux who had not been contacted by the fighter by the end of March, a month after Frampton’s last title defense. The WBA has stripped Frampton after the Frampton side failed to respond to the intent of a future bout with Rigondeuax.

The bout for the vacant WBA title will be mandated now between Guillermo Rigondeaux and Moises Flores
