Golden Boy Promotions returned to  Fantasy Springs Resort and Casino with a very competitive main event that saw Eddie Gomez (19-1 11 KOs) outlasting John Karl Sosa (13-2 6 KOs) to capture the vacant a regional title as he picked up over the former prospect, Sosa. The judges saw the fight 96-94, 96-94 and  98-92.

In the co-main event, Art Hovhannisyan, (17-2-3, 9 KOs) fought to a draw with Fidel Maldonado, (21-3-1, 18 KOs) in a ten round lightweight. In a bout that came down to what you prefer as a judge, it appeared Hovhannisyan was the much busier fighter , but Maldonado was able to drop Hovhannisyan in the eighth round , but was docked a point for a blow south of the equator. The fight was ruled a draw with the scores of 96-92 Hovhannisyan, 95-93 Maldonado and 94-94 ; leaving the fans upset as Hovhannisyan had won over those in attendance.
